Summary:
Since the Edo periods of Japan, gladiator arenas exist in certain areas. In these arenas, wealthy business owners and merchants hire gladiators to fight in unarmed combat where winner takes all. Tokita Ouma, nicknamed "Ashura," joins these arenas and devastates his opponents. His spectacular ability to crush his enemies catches the attention of the big business owners, including the Nogi Group chairman, Nogi Hideki.

This was just the anime I needed to cleanse my palette from my last anime. Simply put, this anime is badass! I love the adrenaline rush I felt when the characters were going head to head with each other. And the CGI was done well compared to others that try to half-ass it. Personally I enjoyed Ohma as a protagonist, he's the definition of badass. But I wonder how much of the manga didn't make it into season one. Makes me curious enough to pick up the volumes.
There were moments when the commentator would slow down the match, but not too much. This anime sure had some colorful characters, and most importantly this anime was fun, so for me.
